Ingredients Glossary

  • Almond Oil (Sweet)- contains vitamins A and E, easily absorbed and won’t clog pores, promoting clear, soft, healthy-looking skin.

​

  • Aloe Vera Juice – an anti-inflammatory ingredient that is high in antioxidants & vitamins A & C.

​

  • Apricot Kernel Oil- Contains vitamins C and E, helps to improve skin tone and maintain softness and radiance of the skin. Also thought to lower the appearance of face wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes.

​

  • Arrowroot Starch- used as a thickening agent, arrowroot contains many beneficial minerals and vitamins such as zinc, iron, potassium, and Vitamin B6, and is known to provide relief to skin irritations including rashes, acne, skin sores, and rashes.

​

  • Argan Oil – high in oleic acid and linoleic acid which are both essential to amazing looking skin!

​

  • Ascorbic Acid- Vitamin C. Vitamin C applied to the skin can encourage new collagen to grow. It also helps maintain the collagen you do have and protects the precious protein from damage.

​

  • Castor Oil – has ricinoleic acid which is known to help increase anti-inflammatory benefits.

​

  • Citric Acid- Citric Acid works by exfoliating the upper layer of dead skin cells to help clean pores, even skin tone and soften and smooth the skin.

​

  • Cocoa Butter – a hydrator that is high in fatty acids and excellent at moisturizing skin. 

​

  • Coconut Oil – high in lauric acid, contains vitamin E, high in fat content which makes for a good moisturizer.

​

  • Cupuacu Butter- a hydrophilic (water-loving) oil that carries water to the skin, restoring elasticity while providing anti-oxidants and hydration.

​

  • Emulsifying Wax NF- vegetable-based thickening agent used in lotions, creams and other emulsions. Bonds oils with water to ensure a high-quality product.

​

  • Essential Oils – if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any other condition/are taking medications that can cause a sensitivity, please speak with your doctor before using essential oils.

​

  • Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT Oil)- liquid form coconut oil where the medium chain triglycerides are retained. 

​

  • Fragrance – all our fragrances are skin safe and phtlalate-free.

​

  • Germall Plus (Liquid)- a cosmetic preservative combining Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate solubilized in Propylene Glycol. Liquid Germall Plus has a safe toxicology profile and has been evaluated as safe for both rinse-off and leave-on formulations.

​

  • Glycerin – acts as a humectant drawing moisture into the skin.

​

  • Grape Seed Oil- non-comedonogenic, contains the antioxidant proanthocyanidin, which increases cell turnover and collagen synthesis to help skin stay elastic and even out tone.

​

  • Jojoba Oil – is a wax ester, mimicing the skin’s sebum. Contains vitamins, A, D & E and omega fatty acids 6 and 9.

​

  • Kaolin Clay- Brightens skin tone, exfoliates to deep clean pores, soothes irritated skin, and soaks excess oil from skin’s surface, controlling excess sebum production without affecting skin's natural oil level.

​

  • Mango Butter – Nutrient-dense oil high in vitamins A, B6, and E, non-comedogenic, which is means it won’t clog pores.

​

  • Mica – a mineral mica is made from the same type of mica found in mineral makeup brands & eyeshadows, we use this small micron mica to add color to our soaps. 

​

  • Niacinamide- Vitamin B3. Reduces inflammation , which may help ease redness from eczema, acne, and other inflammatory skin conditions. Minimizes pore appearance. Regulates oil and helps in lipid barrier repair.

​

  • Oatmeal- can work as an exfoliant, sloughing away dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. Also used for cleansing, moisturizing, and reducing inflammation.

​

​

  • Olive Oil- contains antioxidants that fight free-radical damage, as well as an ingredient called squalene, which is extremely hydrating.

​

  • Polysorbate 20 – allows water and oil molecules to bind together. Used in a variety of skin and hair care products globally.

​

  • Shea Butter – has many fatty acids including linoleic, oleic, palmitic, stearic, as well as omega 3 fatty acids. 

​

  • Sodium Bicarbonate- Baking soda. Helps manage pH levels and has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

​

  • Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate – a moisturizer that helps the skin stay soft and pliable. Also an effective, food-grade emulsifier, stabilizer and a surfactant commonly found in baked products, puddings, fillings, dips, gravies, liqueurs and other prepared foods. Since Palm Oil is an endangered resource, we use SSL instead.

​

  • Stearic Acid– attracts dirt and grime without stripping your skin of its outer layer of moisture.

​

  • Sunflower Oil –  non-comedogenic oil that is high in oleic, and linoleic acid and vitamin E

​

  • Tocopheryl Acetate- Vitamin E. The antioxidant properties of vitamin E can help to prevent damage to skin caused by free radicals from UV exposure. Vitamin E may also have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.

 

  • Turbinado Sugar- sugar in bigger granules than standard table sugar. Unbleached, and won’t melt away during use as fast as smaller granules, allowing for more exfoliation before releasing its humectant properties into skin.

​

  • Witch Hazel (Distilled)- reduces redness, soothes skin irritation and itchiness.
